Our Programs

Landscape Testimonies & the Changing Climate

  • Our East Texas Environmental Legacy Project collects firsthand accounts from locals about what the landscape of our region looked like in their childhoods, so that we can understand what we have lost or what we should invest in bringing back.

  • In this way, we introduce people to the concept of a changing climate through their own storytelling based in the locations that mean the most to them.

  • We also partner with organizations like the Watson Rare Native Plant Preserve, the Big Thicket Natural Heritage Trust, the Big Thicket Biosphere Reserve, and the Big Thicket Association to showcase and rebuild the natural landscapes of East Texas.

Arts + Environment ~Radical~ Civic Engagement Zine

  • Our arts and ecology zine collects submissions twice a year for digital publication and local distribution. It gives local nature-based artists a platform to express their unique voices and opinions and increases dialogue about environment and the arts in our communities at large.

  • To support an increase in civic engagement among youth voters, we include voters guides and similar resources for upcoming local, statewide, and national elections.

  • We work with other friendly, partner-based community organizations who we have good relationships with that focus on a range of topics: from conservation, to mutual aid, memory, creativity, politics, and beyond.

  • In the future, we hope to work with cultural and nature institutions to host live zine launch events.

Environmental Advocacy Chats + Happy Hour Hikes

  • We hold community chats and (sober) happy hour hikes to learn about what processes go into environmental advocacy and to share our own stories and experiences.

  • We bring in outside speakers who are specialists in areas like journalism, advocacy, scientific research, arts, architecture, and urban planning to educate and empower our members and community.
